Drum Majors 2013-2014

This year there were many great candidates for drum major, which made this a very difficult decision.  One thing that was evident from the auditions is that the Holland Bands will be set with good leadership for years to come.  Thanks to all who auditioned. Memorial Day Details

 

Memorial Parade for the Marching Dutchman Band

High School Marching Band Details:

Memorial Parade Monday –May 27th—Parade step off time is 9:30 A.M  we should be done by 10:30-10:45 A.M.

  • 8:45 am Meet at Central Ave between 7th & 8th  Unload truck and prepare to step off. The truck must move to the end of the parade for you so get your equipment off the truck by 8:30 A.M. and get in parade formation.
  • We are Division 4 number 39.– The end of the Parade behind the Desert strom truck. Load truck at the end of the parade at the Pilgrim Cemetery

Things to Remember

  • You must have every part of your uniform to be allowed to step up with the band!  (Black Pants, Black Socks, Black shoes, and Red Polo (tucked into your pants)
  • You must stay in your complete uniform at all times!
  • Be early!  Especially Percussion!!!! Morgan, Nick, Bethany and Avery turn in Radio for Charging to Bogue.  You are responsible for the ear piece.
  • The Truck will be located near Central between 7th and 8th hopefully in the National City Parking lot or close by .
  • Please come hydrated and eat breakfast before you come to the parade! 

Memorial Day Parade May 27th

On Monday, May 27th 2013 the City of Holland will conduct it’s annual Memorial Day Parade.  The Holland Marching Dutchman will be performing at this year’s parade.

This event and day’s purpose is to honor our fallen heroes who have served our armed foces. Due to this fact, this is a required event for all band members.

Plans call for the Holland High School Marching Band to meet at the Holland Civic Center Parking lot at 8:45a.m. with the parade beginning at 9:30 a.m.  A more detialed itinerary will be available closer to the date of the parade.  The uniform for this parade will be band polo (tucked in), black pants, black socks, and black shoes.

If there is a conflict with this parade you will need to turn it in writing by Friday May 17th.  If you are not present at the parade you will have to do a make up assignment.  This is the same policy in place for missing any other performance.

As we are in the midst of Tulip Time.  Thank you to all parents who have already donated water. If you have not donated a case of water yet, we are still in need of 20 cases!  Please drop these off in the band room outside the uniform room.  We will be loading them on the truck Tuesday.  Let’s keep all the Holland Bands hydrated.  
We are still in need of 1 parent to march with the 8th grade band on Wednesday and Saturday.  We are also in need of parents to hand out water on Wednesday and Saturday. You can sign up to help by clicking here.   It will take you to a previous post where you can easily sign up.

Tulip time Volunteers Needed, Water, & Tulip time itinerary

At the bottom of this post is the week long itinerary for both the HHS marching band and the 8th grade marching band for tulip time.  The Red Cross guidelines for hydration are also attached. Please read both documents.  
We are asking that all students bring a case of water to donate for tulip time.  This water can be dropped off in the band room. All extra water will be used for the fall marching band season. 
We are in need of 2 parents to walk with both bands on each of the parade dates. We are also looking for parents to help distribute water on the parade dates. You can sign up by clicking the links below.

Concert Thursday April 25th 7:00 P.M & Rehearsal Sunday April 28th 2:30-5:00

Dear Parents and Students,

This is a busy week for the Holland High Bands. I just wanted to remind you about a few details for this week!
Senior Finale Band Concert Thursday 7:00 P.M
  • Features our 8th Grade Band, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band, & Wind Ensemble
  • Call time 6:30 P.M for 8th Grade Band 6:45 P.M for Concert and Wind Ensemble
  • Reception following concert. Please bring a desert to share!  You can drop it off in the choir room on the reception tables before the concert. 
  • This is our farewell concert for our seniors—let’s send them off in style. 
Marching Band Rehearsal Sunday 2:30-5:00 P.M
  • This is a mandatory rehearsal for all 9-12th grade students (it has been on the calendar since the beginning of the year.) 
  • Students should bring their wooden shoes and multiple pairs of socks. (all students need to have their wooden shoes minus color guard!)  
  • It is one of the only times we will be able to combine the bands prior to tulip time.  
It will be an exciting and rewarding week for the bands.  Look for the tulip time itinerary in the near future!

Finale Band Concert/Tulip Time Dates

Our Senior Finale Band concert is Thursday April 25th at 7:00 p.m.  The call time for 8th graders is 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 for 9-12th graders.   All band students should be in their concert dress. This concert features our 8th grade band, concert band, percussion ensemble and wind ensemble.  This concert serves as our final concert of the year and our chance to say goodbye to our seniors.

Following the performance there will be a reception in the choir room.  We are asking that parents bring cookies or other finger foods to be shared at the reception.  These snacks can be dropped off in the choir room before the concert.

 Tulip time is also rapidly approaching.  Be on the look out both online and for a letter sent home concerning the complete itinerary for tulip time week.  The parade dates are May 8, 9, & 11th.  There is also a mandatory rehearsal for all 9-12th grade band members on Sunday April 28th from 2:30-5:00 p.m.  This date has been on the calendar since September and will serve as one of the few days that we will be able to put the entire band together prior to tulip time.
